First night as a man.

As Betty slept memories of growing up as a boy flooded into her mind.

She remembered a loving mother and a strict father.

His father was a police officer and his mother kept the house and raised him.

She remembered kindergarten and Junior School .

She remembered camping with the boy Scouts learning how to hunt and fish.

She remember the first kiss (Rebecca White at the homecoming dance).

She remembered making out with her in the backseat of her father's car losing his virginity to her.

She remember just before High School the heartache and tears when father was shot on duty.

She remembered being determined to follow in his footsteps and make him proud.

She remembered after high school signing up with the Police Academy.

She remember the good few years solving crimes and doing good.

She remembered meeting Sarah and falling in love with her.

She remembered the first time they kissed and held hands.

She remembered the first time they made love.

She remembered the humiliation of being suspended for taking bribes.

She remembered nobody would believe that he had not done it.

She remember to avoid prosecution resigning from the force.

She remembered setting up a small private eye business to make ends meet whilst trying to prove his innocence.

She remembered all the things that he had discovered about Mahoney and his criminal Empire.

She remembered all the arguments when Sarah asked him to give up trying to bring down Mahoney for the sake of their marriage and there child.

She remembered being stunned and shocked by the news that Sarah was pregnant.

She remember trying to drop the case but not being able to.

She remembered Sarah saying she was going to stay with her mother until he could get his head in order and sort out his priorities.

She woke with a start when the mobile phone on the table started to ring.

It was Sarah phoning to check in.

She answered the phone.

Before Sarah could say anything she said I want to apologise.

You are right I should drop this case and focus on our family.

I'm going to get dressed have a shave and head up to your mother's.

Sarah was shocked and surprised.

She could not believe what she was hearing.

She could not believe her husband's attitude change.

She wondered how long this new attitude would last.

She said in a voice with disbelief is this going to be like one of your other promises.

Betty just said I promise you Sarah I will stop looking into Mahoney.

I will stop trying to clear my name and get back on the force.

I am solely going to focus on you & the baby and our marriage from now on.

Sarah had heard these words before but she gave him the benefit of the doubt and said I will see you when you get here.
