EXCHANGE ISLAND The First Night — A Body-Swapping Story by AG 💕

EXCHANGE ISLAND
The First Night in Paradise
 A glamorous 1980s Holiday body-swap romance
By AG 💕
SUMMER 1987 • CHAPTER ONE
Ten Minutes in Paradise
Ten minutes.
That was all it had taken to turn my entire world upside down.
Ten minutes after stepping off the little private aircraft onto Exchange Island's sun-drenched runway, I found myself in a luxurious hotel Suite, staring at my reflection.
And what a woman she was!
Long, thick, curly black hair tumbled over her shoulders. Her large brown eyes were framed by dark lashes, and her full, beautifully shaped lips seemed made for smiling.
Her figure was something straight off the cover of an expensive 1980s glamour magazine.
A voluptuous bust, a narrow waist, beautifully rounded hips and a pair of long, shapely legs.
And she was wearing the tiniest, most colourful tropical bikini I had ever seen.
The extraordinary thing was that the gorgeous woman looking back at me was actually me.
"Oh, bloody hell!" I whispered.
Even my voice was different. Soft, feminine, with a warm, slightly husky quality.
I turned sideways.
Then the other way.
I lifted my arms, ran my fingers through my magnificent curls and smiled at my reflection.
"Well, if I'm going to spend two weeks as a woman, I certainly can't complain about the accommodation!"
I giggled.
Actually giggled!
That was something I hadn't done in my entire adult life.
Then I noticed a small pink envelope tucked into the mirror's corner.
Inside was a handwritten note.
Hello, darling!
I hope you like your new Holiday body. I've left you a wardrobe full of lovely clothes, so please make the most of them.
Enjoy yourself, have fun, and don't worry about me. I'll be doing exactly the same in your body!
Remember, what happens on Exchange Island stays on Exchange Island.
Love,
Isabella xxx
I stared at the note.
Isabella.
So that was her name.
Somewhere on this beautiful tropical island, Isabella was now walking around in my old body, probably enjoying the freedom of being a man for the next fortnight.
Judging by the rather cheeky note, she had no intention of wasting the opportunity.
I looked back at myself.
"Well, Isabella, you've certainly given me something rather special to look after."
I smiled.
"And I promise I'll try not to wear it out!"
A Wardrobe Full of Temptation
The hotel Suite was enormous.
It had a king-sized bed covered in white satin sheets, a glass-topped dressing table, a television in a polished wooden cabinet, and a balcony overlooking a palm-lined beach.
Below, a stereo played soft 1980s pop music.
The sea sparkled beneath the late afternoon sunshine.
Beyond the gardens stood a swimming pool, an open-air cocktail bar and a row of luxurious beachside cabanas.
Everything looked like a Holiday advertisement from a glossy magazine.
Then I opened the wardrobe.
"Oh, my goodness!"
Inside hung an extraordinary collection of beautiful clothes.
Bright summer dresses, stylish skirts, colourful silk blouses, elegant evening gowns and several more bikinis.
High heels, sandals, handbags, and enough jewellery to open a small shop lay scattered about.
On the dressing table stood bottles of perfume, nail varnish, lipstick and all sorts of mysterious little containers.
I picked up a beautiful red evening dress and held it against myself.
For a moment I imagined walking into the hotel's cocktail lounge wearing it.
Men turning their heads.
Someone pulling out a chair for me.
Perhaps even a handsome stranger asking me to dance.
My stomach gave an unexpected little flutter.
"Steady on," I told my reflection. "You haven't even been here half an hour!"
I put the dress away.
There were decisions to make.
Should I get dressed and go exploring?
Should I walk down to the beach in my bikini?
Should I try one of those enormous cocktails I'd seen advertised in the hotel brochure?
Or should I simply hide in my room until I became a little more accustomed to being a woman?
Then, as I wandered into the bathroom, I spotted something that made the decision for me.
A huge Jacuzzi bath.
Surrounded by pale pink marble, tropical plants and mirrored walls, it looked absolutely magnificent.
"Now that," I announced, "is more like it!"
Bubbles, Candles and a Glass of Wine
Within minutes, the enormous bath was filling with deliciously hot water.
I added a generous amount of rose-scented bubble bath, lit several candles and found a bottle of chilled white wine waiting in the little refrigerator.
Beside it was a complimentary cassette marked Romantic Evenings on Exchange Island.
I slipped it into the stereo.
Soft saxophone music drifted through the Suite.
"Very subtle," I laughed.
I poured myself a glass of wine, slipped out of my bikini, and sank beneath the mountain of warm, fragrant bubbles.
Then I switched on the Jacuzzi jets.
"Ohhhhh!"
I sank back against the padded headrest.
"This is heaven."
The warm, bubbling water gently massaged my back and legs.
My long black curls floated around my shoulders, and I stretched out in the enormous tub, enjoying the delicious sensation of doing absolutely nothing.
For the first time since landing, I stopped worrying about what had happened.
I had spent years dreaming about taking a wonderful Holiday somewhere exotic.
Now I was finally here.
Admittedly, one rather unexpected change had occurred to the arrangements.
I looked down at the bubbles and laughed.
"Quite a substantial alteration, actually!"
Something wonderfully strange about it all.
My hands were smaller and more delicate. My legs seemed impossibly long. Even the simple sensation of resting my head against the bath's edge felt unfamiliar beneath that mass of curly hair.
Everything was new.
Everything was different.
And yet, behind those beautiful brown eyes, I was still the same person who had boarded the aircraft that morning.
I raised my glass.
"Here's to you, Isabella. I hope you're having as much fun as I am."
A Rather Unexpected Thought
As the evening slowly settled over Exchange Island, I found myself thinking about the next two weeks.
Fourteen whole days.
Fourteen days of being a beautiful woman in a tropical paradise where nobody knew who I really was.
I could spend my days on the beach, swimming in the warm sea, drinking cocktails and wearing those gorgeous summer dresses.
And my evenings?
Well, that was another matter entirely.
I remembered the handsome young waiter who had carried my suitcase into the Suite.
He had smiled at me.
Not the polite sort of smile I was accustomed to receiving as a man.
A very different smile.
He had actually looked a little disappointed when I thanked him and closed the door.
At the time, I had been too overwhelmed to think much about it.
But now?
Now I found myself remembering his dark hair, his broad shoulders and the attractive way he'd smiled.
I stared at the ceiling.
"Oh, good grief!"
I took another sip of wine.
Was I actually wondering what it would be like to have a handsome man take me out for dinner?
To have him hold my hand as we walked along the beach?
To feel his arm around my waist as we danced beneath the stars?
And, perhaps, to experience that first nervous kiss?
I felt my cheeks grow warm.
For a man who had never given another bloke a second thought, I was certainly having some interesting ideas.
But perhaps that was the whole point of Exchange Island.
It wasn't simply about swapping bodies.
It was about stepping outside the life you knew and discovering something entirely different.
I smiled into my wineglass.
"Well, I suppose a little holiday romance wouldn't do any harm."
Then I laughed.
"Provided I can remember which side of the dance floor I'm supposed to be on!"
A Date With Tomorrow
By the time I climbed out of the Jacuzzi, the sun had disappeared beneath the horizon.
The tropical sky had turned a magnificent shade of purple, and the resort lights twinkled among the palm trees.
I wrapped myself in a fluffy white bathrobe and stepped out onto the balcony.
Below, couples were strolling hand in hand along the beach.
Music and laughter drifted up from the cocktail bar.
A group of women in colourful evening dresses made their way toward the restaurant, chatting excitedly.
I watched them with a strange mix of curiosity and anticipation.
Tomorrow, perhaps, I would be one of them.
I wandered back to the wardrobe and took out the beautiful red evening dress.
Holding it against myself, I turned towards the mirror.
It was elegant, glamorous and just a little daring.
Exactly the sort of thing Isabella would probably wear.
And, I realised with a smile, exactly the sort of thing I wanted to try.
I hung it carefully on the wardrobe door.
"Tomorrow night," I promised my reflection.
Then I noticed something else tucked inside Isabella's welcome envelope.
A little card bearing the resort's logo.
EXCHANGE ISLAND — YOUR Holiday, YOUR FANTASY.
Beneath it was a handwritten message.
Don't spend your entire Holiday hiding in your room, darling. You're far too beautiful for that!
And one more thing...
That handsome waiter who brought up your suitcase? His name is Michael.
He's single.
Just thought you ought to know!
Isabella xxx
I stared at the card.
Then I started laughing.
"Isabella, you cheeky Devil!"
I glanced at the red dress.
Then at my reflection.
Perhaps tomorrow night would be rather more interesting than I had originally planned.
I placed the card beside the bed, slipped beneath the cool satin sheets and switched off the lamp.
Outside, the sea whispered against the shore.
Somewhere in the hotel, the party was only just beginning.
And as I closed my eyes, one final thought crossed my mind.
This morning, I had boarded an aeroplane as an ordinary man looking forward to a relaxing holiday.
Tonight, I was going to sleep as an extraordinarily beautiful woman, wondering what it might feel like to fall in love from the other side of the gender divide.
And the most surprising thing of all?
I was actually looking forward to finding out.
Tomorrow was going to be a very interesting day indeed.
