It is hard to recall how it happened.
I was out for an afternoon strobe when the weather took an unexpected turn.
Before I knew it the sun had been replaced by angry-looking brain clouds.
I was in the middle of nowhere dressed in a pair of shorts hiking boots and a light jacket and the rain started.
I looked around for somewhere to shelter anything a barn stable or even a hole in the ground.
There was absolutely nothing around me but open field for miles.
I trudged along getting more and more sodden.
Then all of a sudden there was a cracker funder and a flash of lightning and I saw an old mansion in front of me.
I wondered why I had not seen it.
The place looked deserted and rundown.
I pushed my way through overgrown bushes along the weedy path to the front door.
To my relief, it was not locked and easily pushed open on creaking old hinges.
The place was dusty full of comp webs and spells of dampness.
It was clear to see nobody had lived in this building for years.
I went into what I guessed used to be the main living room.
I smashed up a couple of the old worm-eating furniture to make kindling.
I pulled down some of the moth-eaten curtained.
Now all I needed was something to set it alright.
On top of the mental piece under layers and layers of dust was an old box of matches
My hands were shaking so much now because of the cold that I spilt half of them on the floor.
I just needed one of these Old matches to strike the first free snap on me but the fourth one first into beautiful orange flame.
The drill old curtain material went up beautifully and the wood quickly followed.
I piled more and more onto the fire until it was raging.
The room slowly warmed up and was lit by a beautiful orange glow that sent ghostly shadows dancing around the walls.
I sat close to the fire warming myself up as the storm raged outside.
So exhausted was I drifted off to sleep in front of the fire.
I had a strange dream of a wedding where I was the Bride.
A dream where my husband had brought me home on a cold and wet stormy night.
I had gotten so cold on the carriage ride across the moors that he had placed me in front of a roaring fire to warm me up when I got there.
I awoke many hours later feeling strange and out of place.
I was still sitting in front of the fire but now the room was no longer a ruined around me.
It was beautifully decorated and furnished.
It spoke of opulence and wealth and good taste.
As I sat there staring at everything around me the drawers opened and a man who I knew instinctively was my husband smiled at me.
I rose from the floor noticing for the first time I was never a woman wearing a pretty dress.
I was confused and did not know what to do.
Before I knew what I was doing my body was moving on its own.
It was like being a passenger inside your own body looking for your own eyes but with no control over your actions.
I greeted him as a loving wife would.
He asked me if I was feeling better.
Did the rest in front of the fireplace warm me up after the long carriage ride to get here?
I told him of this crazy dream that I had just had.
Where I was a man and this house was a ruin and I had been quoted a freaked storm and had to refute here.
He smiled and told me that was an unbelievable dream.
I still have these occasional dreams of being a man living in the future with all its strange technology moving pictures and horseless courage.
Some of the things I see terrify me.
I no longer tell my husband of my dreams.
They only worry him.
I keep them to myself in this diary.
But it is getting hard and hard to believe they are just dreams.
Some of the things I have dreamt of have started to come true.
My husband had booked us on the Maiden via the White Star's newest and biggest ship the Titanic to celebrate my pregnancy.
That night I had the most terrible dream that the Titanic would hit an iceberg and sink.
I made him cancel our passage and book us on another ocean liner.
When the news broke that their Titanic had sank he looked at me curiously.
I know he is wondering if I knew the ship was going to sink.
Cannot help wondering if the dream of being a man and living in the future was really a reality and if this was some sort of weird side effect of sleeping in this house?
